Please click PLAY to listen to this recent interview from the Dr. Fitness and the Fat Guy Radio Show. Or now you can subscribe to just the interviews from our radio show on iTunes by clicking this link.

Tonight we learn all about the how to get in shape for your wedding from celebrity fitness trainer Sue Fleming, the creator and star of the popular TV show Buff Brides.

Fitness expert Sue Fleming is the creator of the Buff Fitness® workout regimen. The program’s popularity led to a critically acclaimed reality TV series – Buff Brides – on Discovery Health Channel, still in reruns on Fit TV. Sue’s new Buff line of workout DVDs are based on her book series, which includes Buff Brides, Buff Moms, Buff Moms-to-Be and Fashionably Buff.

Sue is also on the team of ExerciseTV, a new television network dedicated to fitness, motivation and sports training. Segments from each of Sue’s Buff workout DVDs can be viewed free on-demand by all Comcast, Time Warner and Cox digital cable customers.

Sue, a naturally competitive athlete, instinctively knew the better the bride looked and felt out of her clothes, the more magical she would look (and feel!) while donning the breath-taking couture creation of her fantasy wedding. And so was born the Buff Fitness regimen. Far more than another cleverly packaged brand, Fleming has brought a sense of steadfast teamwork to a results oriented regimen that has grown into a global health and fitness empire.

A native of New York’s Long Island, Fleming found her calling early on as she yearned for the camaraderie of team sports first at Riverhead High School and later while attending Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, where she earned her Masters. This proved to be particularly challenging in an era when women in sports were still a relative rarity. “I was so grateful for women like Chris Evert and Billie Jean King, as they proved that women could be strong and athletic…and win!” recalls Fleming.

Sue says that whether you have six days or six months you can make a huge difference in the way you look and feel. The real challenge however is to maintain it for 60 years. That’s where Sue takes over. Dedicated to working with clients to overcome their fears of fitness and body image, Sue develops the most important muscle of all…self-esteem.

Rather than resting on her well-toned laurels, Sue sees endless possibilities in bringing her message of fitness to the world. That’s why Sue wants women to understand that a fitness regimen is not a quick fix, but a long-term way of life.

Sue gave us some of her best tips so our listeners could become buff brides or even buff grooms. She said you have to give yourself at least 3 months to get yourself in shape preferably 6 months or more. And please set a realistic goal. If you gained 30 pounds over 10 years you are not going to lose them in 30 days. Sue said her record weight loss for a client was taking her from about 220 pounds down to 145.

A popular fixture in the media… USA Today, Cosmopolitan and InStyle Weddings not to mention a sought after guest on ABC TV’s Good Morning America learn more about Sue on her website www.buff-fitness.com

Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy Interview SkinnySongs Creator Heidi Roizen and Learn The Secret To Fitting Back Into Skinny Jeans

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

icon for podpress  Interview with skinnysongs heidi roizen: Play Now | Play in Popup | Download

Please click PLAY to listen to this recent interview from the Dr. Fitness and the Fat Guy Radio Show. Or now you can subscribe to just the interviews from our radio show on iTunes by clicking this link.

We learn how all about the hottest inspirational weight loss cd sweeping the country SkinnySongs with creator Heidi Roizen. Heidi came into the Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy studio right from a recent appearance on Martha Stewart’s TV show, Oprah and Friends and an article in USA Today. She shared her amazing story about the origins of SkinnySongs and gave some juicy behind the music stories. This is the cd you listen to in the car that inspires you to go to the gym instead of the drive thru.

What do great music and losing weight have in common? According to one of Silicon Valley’s best known venture capitalists and entrepreneurs, Heidi Roizen… just about everything. “In May I hit my all time high weight,” Heidi begins, “so I decided to commit myself to losing it for good this time. I wanted to find music that would keep me motivated about getting in shape and sticking to my diet. While I normally exercise to music by artists like Pink and Carrie Underwood, and their music is great, their lyrics didn’t speak to me about what I was trying to do. I figured, there is great, empowering music about all sorts of topics, there must be for this too. But, I searched for it, and just couldn’t find any.”
That is when Heidi decided to create her own hip music. She wrote the kind of lyrics she herself wanted to hear – stories about making a commitment, sticking to a plan, and getting into that skinny pair of jeans in the back of the closet. She then collaborated with accomplished music producers David Malloy (who has forty Number One Awards to his name) and George Daly (whose career has included senior roles at Columbia and Atlantic Records), to create songs that range in style from driving rock to jamming hip hop, featuring amazingly talented emerging artists. With such empowering songs as Objects in the Mirror Will Get Thinner Than They Now Appear, The Incredible Shrinking Women, You da’ Boss, I’m a Hottie Now, You Can’t Buy Thin and Skinny Jeans her music celebrates commitment, strength, and sex appeal.

Now, the 50 million people in America alone who take the annual pledge to lose weight will be able to find a voice – and some support and encouragement in Heidi Roizen’s music.
“We are all incredibly proud of our work,” states Heidi. “We know that we are going to make a difference in encouraging people to right size themselves. It certainly has worked for Heidi – by sticking to her fitness and diet plan with some help from Skinnysongs, she has lost 30 pounds, and recently zipped up her own skinny jeans.
SkinnySongs is available on Amazon, iTunes and her website. Read more about the artists and hear some music samples and check out lots of apparel and other goodies at www.skinnysongs.com. This cd has been playing in the Fat Guy’s wife’s car for weeks now. We can’t recommend this cd enough - everyone who has listened to it has loved it…including Dr Fitness, the Fat Guy, their wives, past guests…even our ultra hip engineer Sean liked it. So please check it out for yourself.

Matt is the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation/Fitness at Princeton University and he has written some of the most important books about strength training and exercise in the industry.

Matt came on the show and tried to dispel some more fitness myths for the Fat Guy and the rest of our listeners. Is it okay to eat after a certain time at night? Matt tells us. And did you know their is a right way to use the StairMaster and a wrong way. Who knew? We found out that you burn less calories than the machine says if you are holding on to the rails. The Fat Guy would turn the treadmill on and sit down next to it to watch TV and think he was burning the calories the machine said was being burned. It does not work that way. You have to use the machine properly in order to get the results you want. You’ll have to listen to get the rest of his great exercise tips. Check out Matt’s books at any Barnes and Noble, on Amazon or straight from his publisher at www.cardinalpub.com
