On tonight’s show, Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy learn all about Neurobehavioral/Developmental Disorders from Dr Pete Scire with Brain Balance Center.

The Brain Balance Program is a comprehensive program which incorporates a unique multi-faceted approach to the assessment and the development of individualized intervention plans for children affected by the Neurobehavioral/Developmental Disorders such as ADD/ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome, Tourrette’s Syndrome, PDD, Autism, Processing Disorders, and Learning Disabilities (i.e. Dyslexia).

Based upon the most current research their program works from a brain based model which recognizes that many of the children that are diagnosed with these disorders suffer a foundational imbalance or under-connectivity of electrical (brain) activity. This imbalance or under-connectivity occurs within and between the two halves (hemispheres) and/or large networks of the brain.

They believe that it is this imbalance of function, within and between the two halves of the brain which is often responsible for many if not all of the physical, cognitive or mental, and/or behavioral difficulties related to these disorders.

Lisa is finishing up the promotional book tour of her New York Times Bestselling book Hungry-Girl: Recipes and Survival Strategies for Guilt-Free Eating in the Real World.

Lisa started Hungry-Girl in 2004. She said people look to her as a friend, nit some preachy professional dietitian. She offers up great advice in a friendly, fun informative way each and every day with her newsletter.She said one thing that has surprised her on the book tour was when a man approached her at a book signing in New York and told her he lost 100 pounds and had some amazing before pictures to prove it. Lisa is working on the sequel to the book and it should be out next year.

Lisa also gave our listeners her top 3 ingredients that should be in your cupboard if you want to cut some serious calories. First Unsweetened Original Almond Breeze a non-dairy beverage that has like half the calories of skim milk. Next Fiber One Bran Cereal - use this ground up instead of bread crumbs .
