On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy learned all about the Flexitarian diet from Dawn Jackson Blatner. Vegetarian or carnivore? How about if you’re a little of both? You might actually be a flexitarian. Dawn explains that to be a flexitarian you only have to have the intention to eat mostly vegetarian meals throughout the day. Dawn explained that a flexitarian is a relatively new term – it won word of the year in 2003. She said there are different levels from a beginner who eat 2 meatless days a week to an expert who eats 5 or more meatless days each week. Good news fish and insects are not considered a meat. She recommends that you take it slow – don’t just go meatless everyday right off the bat – ease into it a meal then a day at a time. Dawn also shared her meatless recipe that won best recipe recently featuring brown rice, asparagus and almonds.  To learn more about all of the health benefits of eating flexitarian and to see where you stand please go to www.dawnjacksonblatner.com or www.theflexitariandiet.com
