On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy spent some quality time with our good friend Nicci Micco from Eating Well magazine. Nicci talked about the health benefits of eating well by color. Did you know that if you eat more foods that are: red like tomatoes; orange like carrots; yellow like squash; leafy green like spinach;  cruchy green like broccoli; blue like blueberries and deep red/purple like strawberries you could live longer and more healthfully? We also talked about a great article profiling Eating Well’s new cookbook Eating Well in Season which sya that if you could do just ojne thing for your health it would be to make seasonal farm-fresh produce the center of your diet. In addition to great, easy to follow recipes, the book covers everything from shopping preparing to storing your farm fresh goodies.  You’ll also find a beautiful color wheel of all kinds of fruits and vegetables arranged by color you can be eating each season. Check it out at www.eatingwell.com And while you’re there subscribing to the magazine you can also sign up for a bunch of great free email newsletters that encourage you to eat well every day.

Yummm…those colors about cover everything in the rainbow…nice! I know it’s important to eat bright colors for their antioxidants, but what about things like cauliflower…does it still pack a punch? Will be signing up for the email newsletters….thanks!
