On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on Sally Jamara and Vanessa Lowry two of the founders of the Roswell-tree a great fun run and race held each year on July 4. This quasi-road race started when Sally
signed up for the Peachtree Road Race, (a 10k race that gets around 60,000 participants each year) and realized that she would have to get to the race at 4am just to start waiting in line to begin the race. She said forget it and started the Roswell-tree for the not so serious runners in town who want to run a July 4 road race but don’t necessarily want to work that hard to do it. She also wanted to make sure each participant won – since only the most elite runners can win the Peachtree Road Race. This year the Fat Guy has agreed to race as long as they promised to give him a crown made of bacon if he wins. This is an invitation only event that benefits the Atlanta Community Food Bank. All participants get a cool designer t-shirt and your choice of either a tiara or a baseball cap, plus an awesome award breakfast immediately following the race. You must sign up early and create your own division if you want to win and get all the goodies. There are also some “controversial” rules you must go along with as well if you want to get the most out this one of a kind event. You might even see Santa at this years event!
