On today’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy had on Dr Roy Vartabedian a specialist in preventative care and author of the NY Times bestseller Nutripoints. He also worked for a time as Executive Director of Wellness Programs at the Cooper Clinic with Kenneth J Cooper in Dallas. Dr Roy has analyzed the nutritional content of over 50,000 foods – no one on this planet knows more about the best and worst foods you should eat. And he kindly shared with our listeners the foods that give you the most nutritional bang for your buck. For example the best fruit is cantaloupe not an apple. the best vegetable for you is spinach – Popeye was right (not French Connection Popeye but cartoon Popeye). Best legume – green peas. Dr Vartabedian has created an awesome and easy to follow system that lets you know the nutritional value of thousands of foods at a glance. He has assigned a score for every food you could imagine and the higher the number the better the food is for you. It’s that simple try to eat about 100 points in each of the six food categories and you are eating a well balanced healthy diet. You can even go on his website and plug in what you currently eat and he’ll rate your diet. To learn more please go to his super informative and helpful website www.nutripoints.com He has written other fitness and wellness books with his co-author Jack Medina and you can learn more about them at www.jackmedina.com
