We were able to do two things that made both we systems guys sleep better at night. 1) Got an APC Symmetra room wide UPS. We spec'd it for a minimum run time of 15 minutes. Even with close to 70 servers it had 45 minutes of standby time. That wasn't all though, there was a 125kW natural gas fired generator outside that would spool up within 10 seconds of a power out event. 2) We were on tape backup and it was ugly. We got the money to buy a server and installed Rsnapshot on it. Made recovery of files MUCH easier.

If, and I must emphasize, 'If' this happens, then what Apple fails to realize it that, if the OSx86 teams out there want it badly enough, they'll find a way. Remember, just because it hasn't been easy, hasn't prevented the various OSx86 projects to continue. Wait for a bit, and a patch will come out that addresses the problem. It my be in the form of a kext, or through inserting the required atom code back into an installation image. Regardless, if people want it bad enough, they will do what it takes to get it done. By the way, in my opinion, this is the sort of move by Apple that confuses me. As a matter of fact, not just Apple, but many other companies. It actually spans the gap from record labels, to movie studios, to software and hardware vendors of varying types. If you see the adoption curve rising outside of your original targeted platform or demographic, why not embrace the 'homebrew' community, and provide an offering that meets the niche. Of course there will always be those who want to tinker, but offer up a solid netbook with OSX, for under $500.00, and I'm sure Apple would have a field day. Particularly if they put some sufficient horsepower behind it. Just My .02.
@gianpoLets start off with their "broken promises" ad. They made up a bunch of quotes that were never stated by anyone at Microsoft. The "Rated Number 1 in customer satisfaction" is ***** when they apply it to Microsoft. Sure, they have better higher customer satisfaction than Dell (by about 11%), but the commercial wasn't focusing on Dell, it was focusing on Windows 7.From the "top of the line" video: "Every PC you get is going to have viruses". Thats like saying "Every Chevrolet you buy is going to run out of gas", it is totally dependent on the user. And don't give me that "but its easier to fubar a PC" crap. A stupid user can and will find a way to wreck any computer.Those are just the last 3 ads.!
