Not the way you play it
Wow. I used to have better than 20/20 but I don't think it's what it used to be. Night vision? Damn.

It is good to see a company that is on-board with affirmative action and hiring mentally handispecial people.
Easy, just say "if it wasn't for us and this plan you must pass now unemployment will be 12%" and then when it hits only 10% you can say "see, success" in spite of the fact that the 12% number was just FUD in the first place!

Torchlight is pretty good -- because it's made by the same guys behind Diablo (hell the composer is the same) it all felt very familiar, but also fixed a few things that annoyed me about Diablo 2. The only thing I hate about it is the repetitive environments. Yes the dungeons are randomized, but you can tell that they're a series of pre-made rooms strung together in a random order, but when you see the same room with the same lever to open the hidden room with the same stash of gold littered across the floor half a dozen times, it gets old.And a word to the wise -- I played Diablo 2 before, but not religiously... hell, I never even finished it. You can almost play Torchlight on Normal blindfolded. It's almost too easy to jump ahead in levels and be 5-6 levels ahead of everything else in the dungeon, so that you're one and two-shotting everything in your path. And I also got more health potions and mana potions than I knew what to do with except sell off. Can't wait for the editor to come out though, to see what the mod community can bring about.?
The article is wrong. They just linked, but didn't watch the 7 minute 10 second video. They are 100,000 characters. I think that's all UTF-8. |

I've always done well in school, and fricking love standardized testing. I was always a "smart kid", and am now getting my PhD in genetics. That said, in so many ways I'm a fricking idiot. I can tell you in intricate detail the genetic regulation of the cell cycle, but I had to call my dad to ask if the hood of my car was supposed to lift up when you drove it (apparently you have to make sure it's latched 100% when you close it... who knew?). My sister was by no means stupid, but wasn't as "book smart" as I am... she graduated in 5 years with so-so grades... and is making 3X the money I'll ever make, and knows so much more than I do that it's sad. I think a lot of times people who are really intelligent are often too focused on one thing (math, science, etc) and fail to have even a rudimentary understanding of others (interpersonal skills, basic life skills, etc).

They need to make a longer version of this, has a lot of potential and this short preview doesn't make the most of that.
