Tonight we learned all about how to inform, inspire and empower conscious-minded women from our good friend Beth Aldrich. Beth spends a lot of her time helping guide people so they can discover what nourishes and feeds them in order to help them make their lives remarkable.

Beth is the founder of Restoring Essence, LLC and a Board Certified Holistic Health and Nutritional Counselor through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners (AADP). Beth received her education from Columbia University’s Teachers College and The Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York City. She studied under natural health and nutrition experts such as Deepak Chopra, Andrew Weil, David Wolfe, Dr. Walter Willett and Barry Sears.

She also is the publisher of For Her Information (FHI). The FHI Concept was born from the idea that “women are alike more than they are different” and that women rely on one another to improve their lives by sharing answers, ideas and solutions. For example if he/she is practicing in a room above a sandwich shop that might be a red flag. He also talked about a new procedure called a hybrid tummy tuck that he says is great for new moms that are pretty fit. Sorry Fat Guy this procedure is not for you.

We also had on one of Dr Fitness’ favorite strength training experts Matt Bryzcki. Matt is the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation/Fitness at Princeton University and he has written some of the most important books about strength training and exercise in the industry. Matt came on the show and tried to dispel some more fitness myths. Is it okay to eat after a certain time at night? Matt tells us. On tonight’s show, Doctor Fitness and the Fat Guy get the skinny about how to live a life of meaning from Beth Aldrich. Beth is one of the most amazing people we have ever had on our show. She publishes a magazine called “For Her Information Chicago” and she is also the host of For Her Information TV on PBS. Beth tries to help conscious-minded women become more informed, inspired and empowered. She has mentored runners to run marathons and she herself has qualified and ran in the Boston Marathon. Jane Goodall and Nell Newman have been two of her recently featured guests. We also had on Ellen Lau from Zone Diet At Home. Ellen very generously sent the Fat Guy a weeks worth of the Zone Diet food in a effort to have him lose some weight and keep him on this planet for a little longer. The food was awesome. The quality was top notch. The Fat Guy did get a little overwhelmed when the huge box of portion controlled meals and snacks arrived on his doorstep. it took tremenous will power on his opart not to eat the entire box worth of food in one sitting. But overall he was very impressed with the whole operation. The Fat Guy’s kid loved the mac and cheese and most of the healthy snacks that were in there, especially the soy bbq chips. The Doctor also shared his tips on how to what to do if you suffer from fibromyalgia. Therapies that work include: acupuncture, cognitive behaviorial therapy, chiropractic and exercise. You’ll have to listen to get the rest of his tips.

Dr. Fitness made it into the studio tonight so that was kind of a buzz kill for the Fat Guy but he tried to deal with it the best he could. We talked about some weight loss myths like…drinking water will cause you to lose weight (false); calories eaten after 8pm turn straight into fat (false). The Fat Guy tried to exercise last week and got depressed. We also talked a little about September 11 and how the Doctor, because of his intense fear of flying, initially thought the planes were crashing into the Twin Towers because of pilot error.
