In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy share some of their favorite snacks. Snacking can blow up your diet faster than you can say Ben and Jerry. So when you choose a snack to eat during that mid morning or mid afternoon lull go for something that is nutrient rich but not too filling. Remember, a snack is just a little something to take the edge off your hunger pang until your next meal. Some good easy, quick and healthy snacks are: apple slices with peanut butter; a handful of almonds, walnuts or edamames; dried fruit; rolled up turkey with a bit of avocado or some hummus with carrots. In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy share Dr Fitness’ favorite recipe for Edamame Soup. Somehow the Fat Guy missed the memo that the edamame bean is really just a soy bean. But give it some exotic Asian name and you can charge more for it at restaurants. Well the edamame /soy bean is packed with nutrients, proteins and omega 3 fats. It even has calcium and other essential vitamins as well. So an easy way to add some of this healthy goodness into your diet is to make a soup out of them. Make up some vegetable broth, throw in some shelled edamames, some ginger and more of your favorite spices and veggies and you’ve got yourself a hearty healthy meal.
