On tonight’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy learn how to get in beach shape with Lauren Jones the star of the BAYWATCH Beach Body Workout dvd.
Lauren has appeared on the WWE’s Smackdown; she’s been a soap star on The Guiding Light; a Miss New York USA semifinalist; the star of Fox’s Anchorwoman series; and now she’s donning Baywatch’s very recognizable red swimsuit to star in the new BAYWATCH Beach Body Workout DVD from Rodale.
This 57-minute strength and fat-burning program will get anyone in shape to hit the beach in a smaller, more daring swimsuit within weeks. Designed and directed by fitness expert Terry Simpson (star of Abs Diet Workout 2: Get Fit, Stay Fit, also from Rodale), the workout is credible (and Lauren’s looks are incredible), easy to follow, and challenging. The DVD is available wherever fitness videos are sold as well as www.amazon.com.
Baywatch is a global phenomenon that has attracted more than two billion viewers worldwide and was the most-watched TV show of the ’90s. The beach body theme runs throughout the Baywatch DVD. Shot on the beach in Malibu, the workout segments have lifeguard themes like “Rescue Shape” to work the upper body and “Surfing” to work balance. Most of the moves are familiar, like lunges and squats, making it easy to master—yet there are challenging moves like in-and-out push-ups.
Lauren guides viewers through cardio segments and muscle-toning exercises, letting viewers know what they can expect. Muscles are worked from head to toe, mostly with the help of hand weights. Bonus segments include “Baywatch Sun Protection Tips” and talent slide shows of Lauren and her two backups, C.J. and Derrick.
For more information about Lauren and what she’s up to including her clothing line, her art and more check out her website www.laurenjones.net
Next up we had on Mr Breakfast, the world’s undisputed #1 expert on breakfast. The Klark Kent to Mr Breakfast’s Superman is Eddy Chavey, an accomplished author and a graduate of the Los Angeles New School Of Cooking.
His Mission is to instill the importance of eating breakfast; to show how multi-faceted and fantastic the most important meal of the day can be and to help provide breakfast to those in need through the promotion of school breakfast programs and food charities via The Breakfast Of Love Miracle Network.
For everything you wanted to know about breakfast and a little more check out Eddie’s amazing website www.mrbreakfast.com and watch old cereal commercials, learn about breakfast restaurants in your neighborhood and even printout a cereal box cover with you as the star.

As you loyal listeners to the Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy Radio show are well aware I have new unit of measurement that I use when talking about someone’s weight. A Kelly Ripa.
For example I weigh a little more than 2 Kelly Ripas. A recent guest on the show Jennette Fulda used to weight 372 lbs which have put her at about 4 Kelly Ripas and now she weighs in at less than 2 Kelly Ripas.
Well I get this email the other day from someone who is mad that I am making fun of Kelly Ripa. Kelly is so nice, she’s a mom and is so funny on Regis blah blah blah. I think the email might have been from her husband.
What do you think? Should I stop using Kelly Ripa as a unit of measurement and move on to someone else? If so then who?

Just as everyones perception of portion sizes have been distorted it seems that our perception of what fat people look like has also been distorted. A recent study by Dr. Matthew M. Davis, a University of Michigan professor of pediatrics and internal medicine shows that parents are the last to realize that they’re kid should drop a few pounds.
Here’s a tip from the Fat Guy to determine if you have a fat kid - if you are buying clothes for your kid and it has an L or XL then you’re kid is probably overweight. I don’t know if you knew this but L stands for Large and XL stands for Extra Large. you see that is not just the size of the shirt it is also the size of the person wearing the shirt.
Here’s a recap of the results of the study… The Michigan researchers said that, too, suggests parents underestimate their children’s weight.
If your kid is overweight here are three easy things you can do…Weight Loss Tip 1-stop bring junk food into the house. The last time I checked kids don’t do the shopping and most kids are not going to waste their allowance on Pop Tarts. Weight Loss Tip 2-don’t let your kid weasel out of PE make sure your kid does some physical activity every day. Make him walk the dog, make her play outside whether they want to or not. And Weight Loss Tip 3-no liquid calories - more water more watered down fruit juice. That’s pretty much all they should be drinking.

Earlier this week my wife had a stomach virus. It was so bad she missed work. She tried to pin it on some bad hummus, but I’ve watched enough House and Scrubs to know it was a virus. Now just a few days later boom! I get confirmation of my theory from the New York Times.
According to them…Cases of norovirus — commonly known as the stomach flu — have spiked in recent weeks, the city’s Health Department announced this morning. Emergency room visits for vomiting and diarrhea — the virus’s most common symptoms — have jumped to 500 a day from 300 a day in November.
Norovirus is a seasonal illness that typically peaks during the winter months.
Here are the official Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy tips in order for you to prevent getting the stomach virus this winter and to deal with it if you get it.
- Wash your hands like a crazy person. Think Monk! You know how I feel about Purell.
- Make sure the surfaces you prepare food or cook on is clean. Remember Monk clean is what we’re shooting for.
- If you get sick stay away from everyone. Miss work, duh. Quarantine yourself from your family. Sleep a lot.
- Drink lots of fluids. PowerAde, water, tea.

It has been well established that the Fat Guy has no friends and spends way too much time on the internet. I feel a little funny referring to myself in the third person, but I have not found a better way for you the reader to know if this is a post from me or Dr Fitness. So deal with it.
While browsing through the Archives of Internal Medicine as I sometimes do on dreary Wednesday afternoons. I read the conclusion of an Abstract that said that there was “strong evidence” that following a Mediterranean diet lowers the risk of dying prematurely from pretty much everything including cancer.
You can read the abstract for yourself here. But be warned they used a large number of big words that I did not really understand.
As you know if you have listened to the Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy radio show that Dr Fitness is a big fan of the Mediterranean diet. He loves fruit, veggies, olive oil and pizza. I am not sure if pizza is actually part of that diet but it is kind of Italian.

As you may have figured out by now, I spend a lot of time online doing “research” for the show. Truthfully though it’s because I don’t have many friends. I’m not what you would call a “people person” like Dr Fitness.
So on my quest to find another great guest for the Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy show late last night I stumbled on the “Banana Guard.” Now who would need a protective device for transporting their banana one might ask. Because to the untrained eye a banana comes with a protective device already, the thick yellow banana skin. Ah, sometimes that is not enough, especially if you throw your banana in your gym bag. No one likes a smooshed banana and now you can prevent that from happening forever.
Check out the Banana Guard here and send it to that banana loving friend of yours who has everything!
