Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy Interview Fitness Expert Matt Brzycki Who Debunks More Strength Training Myths
Thursday, June 12th, 2008On tonight’s show, Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy learn all about the truth behind some common fitness myths from our good friend Matt Brzycki, author of Youth Fitness: An Action Plan for Shaping America’s Kids which is coming out soon.
Matt is the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation at Princeton University and has over 25 years experience at the collegiate level as a coach, instructor and administrator.
Tonight he talked about the importance of doing each repetition in your strength training workout with good form and energy. Remember the goal when you are strength training is to approach muscle fatigue. He also had some great tips on how to choose your next personal trainer. Believe it or not just because your trainer is ripped, in great shape and has an awesome foreign accent that isn’t enough to decide if he/she is the trainer for you. Make sure your trainer has experience, is getting continuing education all the time, has insurance and is a good listener. And also remember a college degree in exercise science should hold more weight than a weekend trainer certification.
Matt’s wisdom can also be found on the pages of Fitness Management magazine where he is a columnist www.fitnessmanagement.com . You can check his books out online at Amazon or Barnes and Noble or through www.cardinalpub.com
