Finally we had on one of our favorite regulars Tiffany Davis, Atlanta Editor of the Daily Candy. She gave us her favorite Healthy Valentines Day Options and here they are:

1. Go old school in a new way. Make your special someone a mixtape. Sign them up for www.lastfm.com and listen in on what music they like then make them a mix tape to work out to.

2. Have pilates or yoga by candlelight. There’s a woman at www.cafephysique.com thats hosting classes through Valentine’s Day here in Atlanta, or you can learn your own moves and do them at home. Crunch Fitness has produced a DVD that’s available online called Crunch Candlelight Yoga http://www.amazon.com/Crunch-Candlelight-Yoga-Sara-Ivanhoe/dp/B00006FMB2

3. Believe in SAD…Seasonal Affective Disorder or winter depression? Buy them a Sun Jar! http://www.uncommongoods.com/item/item.jsp?itemId=15557&gclid=CKKG89-TkJECFQMRlwodlkU2GA

Its literally a mason jar that charges with solar energy, and when you cap it, it glows with ambient light. $30-40. Other things that might work are a lamp, flashlight or lighter.

Customize a pair of running shoes for your Valentine at www.converse.com, and www.nike.com, and www.vans.com

4. Order a batch of La Dolce Lulu’s baking batter. She makes wheat/gluten-free and vegan varieties. All you have to mix are eggs and fresh milk or cream. She’s just started a cookie of the month club, too. Her website is www.ladolcelulu.com Baked by Atlanta woman named Lindsey Walsworth which is a Daily Candy Sweetest Things 2007 nominee

5. Split a DC Duby science kit with them. it’s designed by a hubby and wife team of molecular gastronomists. So the kit is made to make you savor (not rush though) a box of chocolates AND learn about your palette, too. http://www.dailycandy.com/everywhere/article/25075/Popular+Science

On tonight’s show, Doctor Fitness and the Fat Guy get the skinny about the hottest self help CD series out there…The MINDBody Series. These CD’s were created by Dr. Phil’s Mentor and Chief Content Advisor for the “Dr. Phil TV Show” Dr. G. Frank Lawlis. Dr. Lawlis has put together an audio CD series that helps you achieve your wellness goals. These CD’s have been endorsed by Dr. Phil to help you: relax, stop smoking, help your child with ADD issues, lose weight, and more. We had on Michael Carson the man behind the fitness portion of these CD’s talk about how they help you lose weight and keep it off. Michael is also the fitness expert behind Carmen Electra’s top fitness exercise tapes series called “Fit to Strip”; “Body By Jake’s 10 Minute Trainer” series; and Paula Abdul’s “Cardio Cheer” He has been featured in numerous magazines such as: SELF and Fitness and has been on TV shows like: EXTRA and Hard Copy. You can learn more about Michael Carson, Southern California’s Top Group Exercise Instructor and Top Personal Trainer at his website www.mindbodyseries.com/fitness Michael also told us about the one piece of home exercise equipment that everyone should have the TRX device. This completely portable piece of exercise equipment is available at www.fitnessanywhere.com

We also had on Lance Jensen from Jelly Belly’s Sport Bean division. He talked about the latest innovation in jelly bean. This is what happens when you combine the great taste of Jelly Belly jelly bean with sports performance enhancing carbs and electrolytes. For a dollar a pack you will not find a better tasting way to keep you going on long bike rides or marathon runs. Forget the gels, go with the beans. For more information go to www.sportbeans.com or www.jellybelly.com

The Doctor also shared his tips on how to pick the right workout facilty or gym for you. Number 1, it has to be convenient, either on your way to work or one your way home. It shouldn’t be more that 15 minutes from your work or home. Number 2, it’s got to be clean. Number 3, it has to address your needs. And number 4, you will have to listen to the show to find out that one and all the rest of these great exercise tips.

The Fat Guy gave his Sarah Reinersten on the Amazing Race 10 on CBS update. She is the triathlete with the fake leg. She and Peter finished 1st in the second round and we will be tracking her progress each week on our show. Some of the other contestants are not happy Sarah gets to board planes first or uses her one leggedness to get cabs. But all is fair in love, war and the Amazing Race. Check out the Amazing Race website here http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race10/ and Sarah’s website here www.iamsarah.org

Another highlight of this show was the Doctor sharing how he used to workout at the same gym as his hero Bruce Springsteen. That’s right Dr. Fitness used to spot Bruce Sprinsteen, Clarence, Max and the rest of the E Street Band. I think he still has the sweaty bandana the Boss used when he bench pressed during his Born to Run Tour in the 80’s.
