Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy Interview Fitness Expert Matt Brzycki Who Debunks More Strength Training Myths

Thursday, June 12th, 2008

On tonight’s show, Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy learn all about the truth behind some common fitness myths from our good friend Matt Brzycki, author of Youth Fitness: An Action Plan for Shaping America’s Kids which is coming out soon.

Matt is the Assistant Director of Campus Recreation at Princeton University and has over 25 years experience at the collegiate level as a coach, instructor and administrator.

Tonight he talked about the importance of doing each repetition in your strength training workout with good form and energy. Remember the goal when you are strength training is to approach muscle fatigue. He also had some great tips on how to choose your next personal trainer. Believe it or not just because your trainer is ripped, in great shape and has an awesome foreign accent that isn’t enough to decide if he/she is the trainer for you. Make sure your trainer has experience, is getting continuing education all the time, has insurance and is a good listener. And also remember a college degree in exercise science should hold more weight than a weekend trainer certification.

Matt’s wisdom can also be found on the pages of Fitness Management magazine where he is a columnist www.fitnessmanagement.com . You can check his books out online at Amazon or Barnes and Noble or through www.cardinalpub.com

We’re trying something new. First we will podcast our show in it’s entirety then we’ll release just the guest interviews during the week. So please click on the PLAY button to listen to Dr. Fitness and the Fat Guy learn how to T-Tapp from the master herself Teresa Tapp, creator of the T-Tapp Workout The Workout That Works! and author of Fit and Fabulous in 15 Minutes. Lose 2 sizes in 4 weeks with the T-Tapp Workout. This 34 minute interview is your perfect companion to keep you motivated and educated throughout your walk or run.

Teresa is an exercise physiologist and rehabilitative trainer. She created her unique workout and effective cellulite removal program while working within the International Modeling Industry. She explained that “I worked as a personal trainer, new face developer, booker and scout for several top modeling agencies in the U.S. and in Europe. After working in an industry that demands body perfection, I figured out how to get the female body in shape no matter what age or fitness level while reducing and/or eliminating cellulite.” Her Total System is the most effective on the market today! She said people actually see results within 7-14 days. And she said the Fat Guy might even see results if he tried it.

Teresa said, “I could care less what the scale says. Let’s face it, inches count, pounds don’t. Models are measured, not weighed because no matter what the scale says, if the hips are too big for an outfit, they don’t get the job. I have always guaranteed an inch off the waist or hips in one week. Most women lose at least one dress size if not two in 30 days.” Since retiring from the modeling world she has helped thousands of regular women achieve the same results as her models - higher energy, hormonal balance, and body awareness on how to get fit quick! Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy can’t recommend Teresa and her workout enough. She gets amazing results fast and she has tens of thousands of raving fans to prove it. Please go to her website www.teresatapp.com and sign up for her newsletter and sample her workouts and then buy every last one of them. And for a special treat see where she is appearing next and go see her in person for a workout you will always remember.

Our first guest was one of New Jersey’s favorite personal trainers and authors…Kevin Valluzzi. His new book “Stop The Fitness Confusion” taps into the wisdom of over 50 top trainers and fitness experts to get their best fitness and weight loss tips. Kevin says that a suprisingly consistent methodology came up amongst all the trainers. A circuit-style interval training is highly recommended for people who are crunched for time and are looking to burn more calories faster. He said this kind of work out allows you to burn calories all day long. For more information about Kevin, please go to his website www.thefitnessleader.com and to buy his new book go to www.stopthefitnessconfusion.com

Next up we had on Kevin Betts, the President of Fitness Together, the undisputed leader in the franchised personal fitness trainer business. There are over 600 Fitness Together franchises. Their philosophy is 1 Client 1 Trainer 1 Goal. At a Fitness Together studio the client works one on one with their trainer in a well appointed suite that features all the equipment anyone would need to get a results oriented, full body workout. For more information and to find a location near you please go to their website www.fitnesstogether.com

Next we had on Tina Vindum, outdoor fitness expert and host of the radio show Outdoor Fitness on the Lime channel 114 on Sirius Satellite Radio. Tina talked about the importance of training outdoors in order to get one with nature and use the surroundings around you to get a wickedly effective workout. In San Francisco she does outdoor classes with her clients first thing in the morning. They might be doing pull ups on a tree branch one minute and stretching on a parking meter the next. Each workout is different and each is sure to kick your butt. Tina stressed that exercising outdoors is an almost spiritual experience. She says she has had clients get overcome with emotions as they workout. Picture yourself at the crack of dawn, surrounded by the glow of the rising sun, running through the woods with the skyline of San Francisco in front of you as sweat is pouring off your body. Pretty cool huh? For more information about Tina, her only accredited Outdoor Training classes and her radio show please go the her website www.outdoorfitness.com

If the visible print of the bottom of your foot looks like a foot then you have a low arch or flat feet. If the curve of your foot cuts all the way across the width of your foot then you have a high arch. And Number 3, for more information about choosing the right shoe for your foot check out the website www.apma.org.There was a lot more from Dr. Fitness, but you’ll have to listen to the podcast or go to his blog to get the rest.Kathie was back and she helped out a lot because Dr Fitness was off in New Jersey and didn’t make it into the studio to do the show. Which Exercise Products That You See On TV Should You Buy And Which Exercise Products Should You Avoid

Tuesday, January 17th, 2006

Please click on the pod button to your left to listen to this weeks Dr. Fitness and the Fat Guy podcast, the funniest weight loss and fitness radio show on the internet. Our new and improved podcast has no commercials. This week Doctor Fitness gives you the skinny on separating fact from fiction when it comes to As Seen On Tv weight loss and exercise gadgets. Here’s 3 of the Doctor’s tips to avoid being ripped off by those late night infomercials.#1. The cost of these products are too little. A commercial quality treadmill at a gym costs from $4000 to $5000. $1000 sounds like a lot of money for a product from TV but when it comes to this kind of exercise equipment it really isn’t that much. #2. Don’t buy any piece of equipment without trying it out. That way you’ll see if it’s sturdy and if it will fit your body. #3. Don’t believe the hype. those models demonstrating the product didn’t get that way by using that product. Check out our blog at www.weightlossradio.blogspot.com for all of this weeks weight loss tips. Also check out our website www.drfitnessandthefatguy.com to subscribe to our FREE weekly newsletter. Our guests this week were Linda Reiman, personal trainer and marathon runner, who talked about how she went from gymnist and cheerleader to runner and personal trainer. We also had on John Hanna, Vice President of New South Publishing, who was recently named by Tennis magazine, one of tennis’ most influential people under 40. He talked about what he thought tennis should do to get more people playing this sport for life.
