On tonight’s show Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy learn the inside dish from Kathy Smith on your fitness favorites like Richard Simmons, Denise Austin and Jack LaLanne.  Remember, Kathy was one of the driving forces behind the original dance aerobics craze. She had exercise videos and TV shows that really got people moving back in the day (and she’s still going strong today!).  Kathy shares her best tips to get you moving and off the couch. She says 1-exercise in groups for that energy and support and so you can socialize and exercise at the same time 2-Choose an activity you love, whether it is ballroom dancing, tennis or kickball. And finally 3-reward yourself for small victories. Kathy has a new dvd out called Lift Weights to Lose Weight which is available on www.lionsgatedvd.com. The dvd explains the importance of weight training, especially as you get older. Strength training improves function in order to enjoy life as you age. Richard Simmon’s Sweatin to The Oldies Turns 20. That Means The People Who Purchased Them When They First Came Out Are Turning 100.

Thursday, January 10th, 2008

Man, does time fly? Somehow it has been 20 years since the shorty short, tank top wearing Richard Simmons released his Sweatin’ to the Oldies. and now as luck would have it he is re-releasing them as a special anniversary DVD set. I wonder if the set comes with daisy duke shorts and an afro pick? So get ready to set your Tivo keyword search to Richard Simmons. Becuase I’m sure he’ll be doing the rounds on all the talk shows. Dr Fitness is a big fan of Richard Simmons and I’m sure he is doing his best to get him to come on our show. I hope the Doctor can get him on the show so I can get my Deal A Meal card set autographed by Sir Richard.
