Grocery Store Chicken Safety Tips

In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy explain how to pick out and cook chicken in a safer manner. Consumer Reports recently said that 2 out 3 chickens they tested were contaminated with some bacteria. They said even organic chickens were contaminated but at a lesser rate. So when you are buying a chicken at the store make sure you put it immediately into one of those plastic bags to prevent any bacteria from moving from the chicken onto any of your other food items, especially unbagged veggies and fruits. Also make sure the bag your chicken is in is sealed properly . Also it is probably a good idea to pick out your chicken at the end of your grocery shopping rather than the beginning – so it stays as cool as possible for as long as possible.   Listen right now to hear Dr Fitness’ tips. Shop Smarter to Lose Weight

In today’s Wellness Minute Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy explain how to shop smart for weight loss.There are lots of things you can do at the grocery store to help you lose weight – running sprints down each aisle doesn’t have to be one of them. Avoid sugar free and fat free snacks – those snacks don’t really fill you  up, are filled with chemicals and just make you crave more junk food.  If you crave something sweet – eat some fruit. Experiment with spices to add flavor to your meals. But smaller quantities – this may cost more money but it will cost you less calories. Make a list and stick to it – pre-planning meals ahead of time and shopping for those ingredients is the ticket to weight loss success.
