The Doctor had some his latest installment of …Dr Fitness’ “Things You Can Do Today” To Lose Weight Tomorrow. Here are a few of Dr. Fitness’ secrets about how to watch out for seemingly healthy choices that pack a lot of calories at some of your favorite restaurants. Number 1, Ruby Tuesday’s Veggie Burger has over 900 calories, bet you didn’t know that. Number 2, Chili’s grilled salmon meal gives you 8 oz of salmon some rice and veggies for about 700 calories - probably more than you thought but it sounds good to the Fat Guy. And Number 3, beware the Macha Green Tea Blast at Jamba Juice…that 32 ounce smoothie will cost you well over 600 calories. For that amount of calories I’d much rather have the salmon from Chili’s. He had a few more tips but you’ll have to listen to get them.

Kathie finally came back to the studio and she promised that she would be around more often. She was in Cancun and New York filming the Real Savvy Moms TV show.  Real Savvy Moms is a great show for moms that is available on most Public Broadcasting Stations around the US and online. Remember Kathie is one of the top feet and legs model’s out there… she is so hot she got to be a body double for Alyssa Milano a few weeks ago. Be sure to check out Kathie’s website www.getkathie.com. Also check out her hosting skills on www.RealSavvyMoms.com.

Remember we are now on Michigan radio station WKNW this day. They asked us to create a Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy “Wellness Minute.” So now a new Wellness Minute runs on that station each day. Each Wellness Minute features the doctor and I going over 5 of his best tips on a given wellness subject like: losing weight, getting in shape, living a healthy lifestyle, etc. We’re working on ways to make those tips available to all our listeners. If you have a favorite radio station that you think would benefit from our Wellness Minutes send them an email telling them about it and who knows maybe you can hear us everyday too.

Also once again, I need you to please do me a favor. My nine year kid Max made his radio debut in his new show “Kid Power Radio.” This is a great show for your kids. It is kind of like a kids version of David Spade’s “Showbiz Show” on Comedy Central or Entertainment Tonight. #1 Show of 2006 As Voted By Our Listeners. Hungry Girl, Nutrition Twins & Michael Gonzalez Wallace Share Their Weight Loss Tips

Monday, January 1st, 2007

This is a replay of our listeners favorite show from 2006. We will begin broadcasting new shows next week.

“The funniest weight loss and fitness radio show on the internet.” Please click on the POD button to listen to the latest Dr. Fitness and the Fat Guy show.

On tonight’s show, Doctor Fitness and the Fat Guy get the skinny about how to survive Halloween without putting on too many extra pounds. This is Dr. Fitness and the Fat Guy’s 2nd Annual Halloween Calorie Saving Tip Show. Last year we were lucky enough to have Lisa Lillien, the Hungry-Girl on our first Halloween Show and she is back again this year. This year we also pulled some strings and had on Lyssie and Tammy Lakatos, the Nutrition Twins. And for the first time we had on one of New york’s best personal trainers, who was recently featured in Oprah’s O Magazine, Michael Gonzalez-Wallace.

We started off with Michael telling us about “The Workout That Does It All” this workout strengthens your mind as well as your muscles. It boosts your immune system while burning calorie after calorie. Micheal is a former professional basketball player from Spain who is now taking over New York City with this awesome exercise program. Check out his website www.sportstrengthtraining.com and see clips of his brand new DVDs. You can also learn all about the Neuromuscular Strength Training system he specifically developed to help his clients on the upper East Side of Manhattan. His Upper East Side Workout video was filmed in Central Park so you won’t find a more picturesque looking exercise dvd. Micheal lost 9 pounds during the filming of these videos so imagine how much weight you’ll lose if you use them a couple times a week. If you mention Dr Fitness and the Fat Guy when you order his exercise dvds Michael will knock off 15% of the purchase price.

Next we were joined by Lyssie and Tammy Lakatos, the Nutrition Twins. They recently were kind of regulars on the Queer Eye for the Straight Guy TV show. They can also be seen all the time on WABC news in New York giving all kinds of nutrition advice, recently they did an extended segment all about Halloween Candy.  And that’s what we talked about tonight on our show. The Nutrition Twins are big fans of Tootsie pops and other lollipops for treats. They also love Adora Calcium Supplements, which can be found at www.AdoraCalcium.com. For some reason, we also talked about tips to help you start gaining weight. Probably because Nicole Richie is in the news struggling with gaining weight. Yeah, her and 3 other people out there.

Please, check out Tammy and Lyssie’s website www.NutritionTwins.com It is filled with lots of great information about losing weight and healthy eating. They will answer your nutrition questions and send you great recipes when you subscribe to their newsletter.  You can also get their wonderful book “Fire Up your Metabolism: 9 Proven Principles for Burning Fat and Losing Weight Forever.”

Then last, but certainly not least we had on Lisa Lillien, The Hungry-Girl herself. She has without a doubt the Number 1 email newsletter for hungry girls and hungry boys. Go to www.Hungry-Girl.com check it out and subscribe. It is my wife’s favorite newsletter and she can’t wait to get it each morning. We use more recipes and calorie saving techniques from Hungry-Girl than any other source.

Lisa talked about her mad scientist laboratory, I mean kitchen, where she mixes and matches low fat and low calorie ingredients to come up with her very own tasty concoctions. Her tips for this Halloween are more candy corn and peeps and less Snickers and Reese’s. She also mentioned her tip for using Fiber One as a bread crumb substitute, but you’ll have to listen to the show to see how to do that.

Dr Fitness also shared his tips on how to deal with the curve balls life thows you to knock you off your exercise program. Here are Dr. Fitness’ tips…Number 1, start today, do not put off exercising until Next week or New Years. Number 2, Get involved in a team activity. And Number 3, get a partner to watch your back. You need support, everyone does. You will have to listen to the show to find out all the rest of Dr Fitness’ great exercise tips.

The Fat Guy gave his Sarah Reinersten on the Amazing Race 10 on CBS update. Sadly she and Peter were eliminated. They had finished first the week before, but kept bickering, they got lost and finished well behind the rest of the other teams. She is the triathlete with the fake leg. So this marks the end of the Amazing Race updates. Check out the Amazing Race website here http://www.cbs.com/primetime/amazing_race10/ and Sarah’s website here www.iamsarah.org

Another highlight of this show was the Fat Guy and Dr Fitness arguing over the basketball coaching merits of Red Auerbach.

This week’s bonus is…free books to the top 10 best weight loss success stories from our listeners. Just email us your struggles or your successes and we will send you a free copy of our book “You Can’t Lose Weight Alone. The Partner Power Weight Loss Program” if we think they are good enough. Dr. Adam Shafran Debunks Weightlifting Myths!!!!

Sunday, March 19th, 2006

These are some of the most common exercise myths related to strength training:
1.High reps for endurance, low reps for strength.
2.Free weights make you more cut than machines.
3.I lift weights and do it at a fast pace, I don’t have to do cardiovascular work? 4.If I lift weights I will lose flexibility and sports like tennis, golf, basketball will affect performance negatively?
1. Stength and endurance are directly related. If I increase strength, I increase endurance. The opposite is true as well. You can also train with high reps and increase strength and you can train with low reps and increase endurance. 2. Resistance is resistance; our bodies don’t know the difference between a gallon of water and a dumbell. 3. Cardiovascular exercise has to be have several components in order to gain all of the positive adaptations that the heart gets from training. (sustained elevation of your heart rate for a prolonged period of time , several times/week) Unless you are lifting and doing it non-stop where your heart rate doesn’t plummet like a stone and you are doing it for at least 30 minutes, hit the road jack! 4. rackets sports or sports that require finesse and strength at the same time require learned motor patterns. Lifting a weight cannot negatively affect those motor patterns!
